Goucher Riders Grade High in Flat Phase
CARROLLTON, Va. — On a day when Goucher riders earned high marks for their performances in the flat phase, director Patte Zumbrun's riding team finished two points behind Mary Washington today at an IHSA Zone IV Region I show conducted at Amazing Grace Stable.
Zumbrun's Riding Team Sits Two Points Out of First Place
CARROLLTON, Va. — On a day when Goucher riders earned high marks for their performances in the flat phase, director Patte Zumbrun's riding team finished two points behind Mary Washington today at an IHSA Zone IV Region I show conducted at Amazing Grace Stable.
Karli Postel (Newbury Park, Calif./Oaks Christian School) placed second in her class of open equitation on the flat. In the intermediate division, Addie Jabin (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) earned a first-place ribbon in the flat phase; in the novice division, Madeleine Holmes (Glendale, Calif./Crescenta Valley), Lauren Steinhoff (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) and Lisa Taylor (Baltimore, Md./Outfields School) were all awarded first place in the flat phase in their class.
Amory Brandt (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook) placed second in open equitation over fences.
Drew Santoro (Marblehead, Mass./Walnut Hill School for the Arts) placed first in advanced walk-trot-canter equitation and Abigail Thomas (New York City, N.Y./Rudolf Steiner) placed first in walk-trot.
Mary Washington earned 37 points at today's show, hosted by Christopher Newport. Goucher came away with 35 points, and it's those two points that separate the two riding programs in the IHSA Zone IV-I standings: Mary Washington - 160, Goucher - 158.
