Goucher Passes Mary Washington for First Place in Zone IV-I
ASHLAND, Va. — Goucher was two points out of first place heading into today's IHSA Zone IV Region I show at The Pines, but by finishing with the high score, director Patte Zumbrun's program took over the top spot and opened up a three-point lead over Mary Washington.
Postel Earns Top Honors in Open Fences, Open Flat
ASHLAND, Va. — Goucher was two points out of first place heading into today's IHSA Zone IV Region I show at The Pines, but by finishing with the high score, director Patte Zumbrun's program took over the top spot and opened up a three-point lead over Mary Washington.
Including the 35 points earned today, Goucher's season total rose to 193. Mary Washington placed third at today's show, but dropped only to second in the overall standings with 190 points. Christopher Newport is a distant third with 139 points.
Goucher's Karli Postel (Newbury Park, Calif./Oaks Christian School) was the reserve high point rider at today's show. She was awarded first place in open equitation over fences and on the flat.
Amory Brandt (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook), who also represented Goucher in the open division, placed third in both the jumping and flat phases.
In the intermediate division, Taylor Marcus (Unionville, Pa./Unionville) placed second in the flat phase.
Moriah Patashnik (Seattle, Wash./The Northwest School) turned in a first-place performance in novice equitation over fences and Madeleine Holmes (Glendale, Calif./Crescenta Valley) was third in novice flat.
Madison Tidwell (Sun Valley, Idaho/Middle College) placed second in walk-trot equitation.
