OATLAND, Md. — Goucher's haul of 32 points at today's riding show conducted at Oatland Stables landed the Gophers in third place, but it was sufficient enough to keep them atop the 2012-13 IHSA Zone IV Region I standings.
Maryland and Mary Washington finished 1-2 ahead of Goucher today, picking up 39 and 37 points, respectively, but Christopher Newport, which was holding down the runner-up spot in the Zone IV-I standings, came away with only 31 points and lost ground to director Patte Zumbrun's riders. With just two more shows remaining before the region champion is determined, the Gophers are leading with a total of 224 points, Christopher Newport is second with 206 and Mary Washington is third with 203.
There are also only two more shows remaining for Zone IV-I riders to try to catch Goucher's Karli Postel (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Oaks Christian School) in the high point rider standings. By earning seven points at today's show, she maintained her three-point lead (63-60) over Molly Banfield from Mary Washington. The next closest rider trails Banfield by an additional 12 points.

Kaili Janette (New Haven, Conn./Hebrew High School of New England) was awarded second place in walk-trot equitation.
