Fink, Malone Advance to Zones as Regional Champs
OATLAND, Md. — Joey Fink (Baltimore, Md./The Park School) and Laura Malone (Weston, Mass./Weston) were crowned regional champions today at the IHSA Zone IV Region I Championships today, which were conducted at The Other Left Farm. They, along with Erika Scott (Stonington, Conn./The Williams School), will represent Goucher at the Zove IV Championships on March 28.

Fink, the region's high point rider for 2014-15, earned blue ribbons for open equitation over fences and open equitation on the flat. Malone's first-place performance was in intermediate flat.
The region's champion and reserve champion both advance to the zone finals. Scott will go after placing second in walk-trot-canter at today's event.
Hayley Cohen (Davidsonville, Md./Indian Creek) took third place in intermediate flat, making her Region I's first alternate to the zone finals.
The two teams that will advance from Zove IV to the IHSA National Horse Show in West Springfield, Mass. will also be determined on March 28. The high point colleges from each of the five regions in Zone IV will compete for the two berths available. Goucher is part of the mix as Region I champion; the other schools which will send their teams to the zone finals are Virginia from Region II, St. Andrews from Region III, Mary Washington from Region IV and Virginia Tech from Region V.
