Gophers Open Up 10-Point Lead on Closest Pursuer
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher claimed first place in the first IHSA Zone IV Region I riding show of the 2015-16 season today, finishing 10 points ahead of George Washington and 11 in front of Georgetown in the team scoring.

The Gophers, who are gunning for their fifth consecutive regional championship this season, earned a team score of 40 points. Since placing second at a show on Feb. 16, 2013, they have now produced the highest team score at 15 consecutive regional competitions
Four Goucher riders were awarded blue ribbons for first-place performances at the show: Cary Hundley (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) in intermediate equitation on the flat, Hannah Woodson (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) and Fanny Eaton (New York, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart) for advanced walk-trot-canter equitation, and Ari Schlossberg (Barrington, Ill./Barrington Community) for walk-trot.
Ashley Bent (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) picked up red ribbons in open equitation over fences and novice equitation on the flat; Anna Carmichael (Colorado Springs, Colo./William J. Palmer) was also the recipient of a pair of red ribbons, one for the jumping phase and the other for the flat phase in the novice division.
Hayley Cohen (Davidsonville, Md./Indian Creek) placed third in open flat.
Goucher will host the next Zone IV Region I riding show on October 17.
