Hundley Emerges From Ride-Off As High Point Rider

TOWSON, Md. — The three Goucher riders who claimed a pair of blue ribbons at the IHSA Zone IV Region I riding show conducted today had to compete in a ride-off to determine the event's high point rider.
The Gophers won a total of nine classes and finished the show with a score of 47 points, which put them in first place. Mount St. Mary's placed second in the team scoring with 33 points and Georgetown was third with 32.
Cary Hundley (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge), who earned 14 points for first-place performaces in open equitation over fences and open equitation on the flat, was declared the high point rider after winng a ride-off that included teammates Anna Carmichael (Colorado Springs, Colo./William J. Palmer) and Ashley Bent (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area).
Carmichael, who was awarded a blue ribbon in novice fences and novice flat, was named the show's reserve high point rider. She also qualified to compete in both phases of the novice division at the Zone IV Region I Championships in April.
Bent qualified for regionals with her first-place performance in novice flat. Her second blue ribbon was for an open fences class.
The other first-place performances by Goucher riders at today's show were by Alison Radgowski (Northport, N.Y./Northport) in intermediate fences, and Wren Wakeman (New York, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart) and Fanny Eaton (Addison, Maine/Washington Academy) in walk-trot-canter.
Radgowski also placed second in an intermediate flat class.
Hayley Cohen (Davidsonville, Md./Indian Creek) picked up a red ribbon in open flat.
After the first two shows of the season, Goucher owns first place in the 2015-16 Zone IV Region I standings with 87 points. In second place, 26 points behind head coach Jen Bunty's riders, are Georgetown and Mount St. Mary's, each with a team score of 61 points.
The next show, which will be co-hosted by George Mason and George Washington, will be held at Frying Pan Farm Park in Herdon, Va., on October 31.
