Equestrian Finishes Third at Winter Classic I Tournament of Champions
COOLVILLE, Ohio - For the first time in the new year, the Goucher College equestrian team returned to action on Saturday, and the Gophers finished third at the Winter Classic I Tournament of Champions in Ohio.
COOLVILLE, Ohio - For the first time in the new year, the Goucher College equestrian team returned to action on Saturday, and the Gophers finished third at the Winter Classic I Tournament of Champions in Ohio.
On the day, Goucher was bested by show champion Mt. Holyoke, who finished with 36 points to narrowly defeat SCAD, who was the reserve champion with 35 points. Goucher placed third with 29 points, as 16 teams total competed in the show on Saturday.
Individually, first-year Adeline Callihan (Keene, N.H.) finished on top in the Walk Trot Canter, while sophomore Cherise Madrid (Braintree, Mass.) was runner-up in the Wal Trot. Senior Clea Lerner (Los Angeles, Calif.) also had a second place finish on the day, earning hers in Intermediate Flat.
Elsewhere, sophomore Courtney Sloan (Annadale, Va.) was third in the Novice Flat, while fellow sophomore Annika Field (Clinton, Wash.) also recorded a third-place finish in Novice Fences.
Rounding out the top performances on the day for Goucher were senior Cary Hundley (Ellicott City, Md.) and sophomore Rena DiPaula (Westminster, Md.) who had fifth-place finishes in Open Flat and Intermediate Fences, respectively.
The Goucher College equestrian team returns to action on Saturday, as they travel to Savannah, Georgia for the Winter Classic II Tournament of Champions hosted by SCAD.
