Equestrian Completes Tournament of Champions Series in Fourth Place
SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Goucher College equestrian team finished off the Tournament of Champions series for the year on Saturday at a show hosted by SCAD-Savannah, registering a 10th place finish.
SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Goucher College equestrian team finished off the Tournament of Champions series for the year on Saturday at a show hosted by SCAD-Savannah, registering a 10th place finish.
Despite that, the Gophers finished off the Tournament of Champions Series (three shows in all) in fourth place overall, trailing national contenders SCAD, Mt. Holyoke, and Randolph. Goucher was able to best schools such as Penn State, Emory and Henry and Findlay in the series, as well.
On Saturday in Savannah, senior Clea Lerner (Los Angeles, Calif.) registered the highest finish on the day for Goucher, taking third place in Intermediate Flat.
Meanwhile, three riders had fourth-place finishes in various events: junior Wren Wakeman (Addison, Maine) in Novice Flat, senior Kyle Kihn (Boulder, Colo.) in Walk Trot, and senior Cary Hundley (Ellicott City, Md.) in Open Fences. Hundley also had fifth-place finishes in Open Flat and High Medal, as well
Rounding out the top performances on the day for Goucher were sophomore Annika Field (Clinton, Wash.), who was sixth in Novice Fences, along with sophomore Courtney Sloan (Annandale, Va.) and first-year Adeline Callihan (Keene, N.H.), who were seventh in Intermediate Fences and WTC, respectively.
The Goucher College equestrian team returns to action on February 25, as they head to The Other Left Hand Farm in Gaithersburg for an IHSA Show hosted by American University and the University of Maryland.
