Senior Cary Hundley (Ellicott City, Md.) of the equestrian team posted a huge weekend for the Gophers in a pair of home shows, and for her efforts, she has been named the Goucher College Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 18, 2018 on Monday.
For Hundley, this marks the second time on the year she's been named the Goucher Athlete of the Week, as she earned the distinction back on January 30th.
On the weekend, Hundley was dominant as the Gophers finished in a tie for first in an IHSA Show on Saturday, then dominated the competition at the IHSA Zone IV Regional I Finals on Sunday. Both shows took place on the Goucher campus.
First, on Saturday, Hundley was the high point rider of the show, finishing in first in open flat and open fences. She followed it up on Sunday winning Regional Championships in two events - Open Flat and Open Fences.
The performance over the weekend for Hundley concludes a big regular season for the senior, who at one point during the year had finished first in open flat in seven straight shows for the Gophers.
The Goucher College equestrian team now sets their sights on the 2018 IHSA Zone IV Championships on April 7th. The show will take place at Sedgefield Showgrounds in Greensboro, N.C.
