HARRISBURG, Pa. - In the final show of her Goucher College career, senior Cary Hundley (Ellicott City, Md.) put together a strong performance in the Cacchione Cup of the 2018 IHSA National Championships, as she finished eighth in the competition that was held at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex.
Hundley's weekend began on Friday, as she went up against 24 high point riders from across the country to take the Cacchione Cup.
Her weekend started with the Jumping Phase, where she found herself in eighth place overall entering the Flat Phase. There, Hundley made history, winning the phase with a final score of 87 to catapult herself into third place overall.
The win in the Flat Phase for Hundley was historic, as she became the first Goucher rider in program history to take a phase during the Cacchione Cup in program history.
On Saturday, Hundley's combined scores of both phases (78 in phase one and 87 in phase two) tallied up to 165, good enough for a top-ten finish in the Cacchione Cup. Winning the Cup was Makayla Benjamin of Sweet Briar College.
Hundley finished off the competition with a Reserve National Championship performance in the T. McDonald Scholarship Challenge, placing second in the competition to cap off a banner career at Goucher College.
