Sloan Takes Reserve High Point Rider Honors; Equestrian Rolls in UMBC Show
The Goucher College equestrian team had a successful day on Saturday in the Mt. St. Marys IHSA Show hosted by the Gophers on-campus, taking High Point Team honors with 44 points on the afternoon.
The Goucher College equestrian team had a successful day on Saturday in the UMBC IHSA Show hosted by the Gophers on-campus, taking High Point Team honors with 44 points on the afternoon.
Individually, the Gophers were led in the show by junior Courtney Sloan (Annadale, Va.), who earned Reserve High Point Rider honors for her overall performance on the day. Sloan also finished first in Intermediate Fences and second in Novice Flat, as well.
Elsewhere, sophomore Emily Fewster (Towson, Md,) was first in Intermediate Flat, while fellow sophomore Rachel Stockslager (New Freedom, Pa.) finished on top in Novice Fences. First-year Nadia Langer (Chevy Chase, Md.) also registered a top finish in an event taking first in Novice Flat, as did senior Wren Wakeman (Addison, Maine), who did so in Walk Trot Canter.
Rounding out the top finishers on the day for the Gophers was junior Cherise Madrid (Braintree, Mass.), who finished first in Walk Trot.
With the performance by the Gophers on Saturday, Goucher has already opened a 14-point lead in the IHSA Zone IV Region 1 standings, which is made up of 13 other collegiate equestrian squads.
The Goucher College equestrian team returns to action on Saturday, October 20, as they host an IHSA Show on-campus.
