Goucher Takes High Point Team Title at Saturday IHSA Show in Gaithersburg
GAITHERSBURG, Md. - On Saturday the Goucher College Equestrian team headed down the road to The Other Left Farm in Gaithersburg, Md. for the University of Maryland/American IHSA show. After the first day of the competition, Goucher leads as the High Point Team.
Goucher Takes High Point Team Title at Saturday IHSA Show in Gaithersburg
GAITHERSBURG, Md. - On Saturday the Goucher College Equestrian team headed down the road to The Other Left Farm in Gaithersburg, Md. for the University of Maryland/American IHSA show. After the first day of the competition, Goucher leads as the High Point Team.
With 47 points, the Gophers have a clear lead over the Reserve High Point Team, Georgetown University (33 points). Goucher also had the High Point Rider and Reserve High Point Rider. In the place of High Point Rider was freshman Irene Elise Powlick (Salt Lake City, Utah) who placed first in Open Flat and in Open Fences. The Reserve High Point Rider was senior Wren Wakeman (Addison, ME.) who placed first in Novice Flat and in Novice Fences.
Other Goucher riders with first places finishes were junior Courtney Sloan in Intermediate Flat; freshman Halle Taylor in Novice Flat; and senior Havah Berg in Walk Trot. Sophomores Emily Fewster and Isabella Marini finished in second place in Intermediate Fences and Beginning Walk Trot Canter, respectively. Freshman Sydney Smith also turned in an impressive performance, finishing fifth in Novice Flat.

Goucher: 213
Georgetown: 157
University of Maryland: 152
Towson University: 144
The Gophers will continue the University of Maryland/America IHSA show tomorrow.
