Goucher Rider Irene Elise Powlick Selected To Compete At The Metropolitan Equitation Finals
BALTIMORE, Md. - Irene Elise Powlick (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline), a member of the Goucher College equestrian team, has been selected as one of 24 IHSA Open Level Riders to compete in the Metropolitan Equitation Finals as an IHSA Showcase Class during The Longines Masters of New York on April 25-28, 2019.
"We are thrilled that Irene was selected amongst such a talented pool of riders for this inaugural event with Longines," said Jen Smith, Goucher equestrian head coach. "She is very dedicated to her craft —and combined with her competitive experience — she will represent Goucher well in this very prestigious venue."
The class is formatted in an IHSA style much like the Cacchione Cup at the IHSA National Championships. The first phase will be held over fences then the top 50 percent will be called back for a flat phase.
The Title Sponsor, Longines, has been very generous to offer the IHSA this opportunity of showcasing top IHSA riders. Longines is not only the Title Sponsor of this Masters Series (Paris, Hong Kong and NY) but is also the Title Sponsor of the FEI Jumping World Cup and FEI World Jumping Rankings. The FEI (Federations Equestrian International) is the world governing body of equestrian sports.
