Goucher Athletics Unveils Competition Of The Year Winner
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Goucher College equestrian Maryland/American IHSA Show has been awarded the Competition of the Year after winning Goucher Athletics popular vote through the website, Facebook and Twitter.
The equestrian team won with 35.5 percent of the vote to earn the victory over Goucher men's lacrosse (19.3 percent) and Goucher women's lacrosse (15.5 percent), who finished second and third and the only other two teams to earn over 10 percent of the vote.
At the University of Maryland/American IHSA Show on November 9, Goucher won the event with a total of 45 points and four points from perfection (49 points are the most points a team can earn). The Gophers won 11 of the 17 possible events: Cole Jackson (limit flat, limit fences), Courtney Morton (open flat, open fences), Anna Wright (limit flat), Celeste Fazioli (limit flat), Cherise Madrid (novice flat), Courtney Sloan (open flat), Flannery Supplee (novice flat), Makaylin Scoop (limit flat) and Noelle Gulley (intermediate fences) each earning individual wins.
Women's soccer, men's swimming, field hockey, women's swimming, women's tennis, men's basketball, men's tennis, volleyball, men's soccer, cross country, women's golf, track and field, women's basketball and men's golf rounded out the voting in the 17-team field.
