Goucher Equestrian Turns Over Competition At The ANRC Take It Forward October Turnover
BALTIMORE, Md. – A Goucher College equestrian team won the second event of the ANRC Take It Forward Team Tournament with the Gopher Gold Team taking the top spot at the October Turnover. Makaylin Shoop (Davidsonville, Md./South River) paced the Gold Team to the victory after being the only rider from Goucher to notch two victories in the competition.
Shoop, who helped the Gold Team finish second to the Gopher Blue Team in the September Kickoff, won the limit flat and the limit fences. The Gold Team earned 20 points to edge Randolph-Macon (18 points) and the Gopher Blue Team (15 points) for the team title out of 14 teams in the second virtual riding competition of the year.
Along with Shoop's showing for the Gold Team, Kellen Sullivan (Hampton, Va./Bethel) finished third in the open fences and Lexi Mason (Lothian, Md./Southern) was fifth in the novice flat in the team victory.
Jacob Connell (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) and Noelle Gulley (Eldersburg, Md./Century) both recorded second-place standings to power the Gopher Blue Team. Entries for November Touchdown are due by November 4 with judging slated to begin on November 7. The Top-10 scoring teams from the three events will be invited to compete in the Tournament Finale at the end of November.

The ANRC Take it Forward College Team Tournament is a virtual team competition open to any college or university that offers a four-year or two-year degree program. A participating school may create one or more teams with students currently enrolled in their school. There will be three tournaments offered in the fall. The Top-2 best team scores will be added together to determine the Top-10 team placings.
There is also an individual virtual event with the ANRC called the Freestyle Challenge with three of Goucher's student-athletes participating.
Flannery Supplee (Monkton, Md./Hereford) won the introductory fences and for the second-straight month, and finished fourth in introductory flat while Claire Edwards (Kailua, Hawaii/Le Jardin Academy) was second in the introductory flat. Kaitlin Honkofsky (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) placed fifth in the introductory flat.
The final round of entries for the Freestyle Challenge are due by November 13 and judging will begin on November 14.
