Equestrian’s Claire Edwards and Men’s Soccer’s Andre Bisimwa Named Scholar-Athletes Of The Week
Every week in the Fall 2020 semester, Goucher Athletics names two Scholar-Athletes of the Week for their hard work in the classroom. This week's features are equestrian sophomore Claire Edwards (Kailua, Hawaii / Le Jardin Academy) and men's soccer junior Andre Bisimwa (Glen Echo, Md. / Washington Waldorf School).
Edwards, a literary studies major, boasts a 3.90 GPA. She recently participated in the equestrian team's fall tournament. The ANRC Take It Forward Tournament is a virtual team competition open to colleges around the nation. Back in September, Edwards won the introductory equitation event for the Gophers. The sophomore also placed second in the introductory flat event held in October.
Bisimwa, a philosophy and psychology double major, totals a 3.51 GPA. He attained the Landmark Conference Honor Roll for the 2019-20 fall season. The midfielder made his Goucher debut on September 12, 2019, against Alvernia and went on to play 11 more games as a freshman. Last fall, Bisimwa upped his appearances to 18 games, including 13 starts for the Gophers.
