Goucher Equestrian Riders Display Talents At IHSA Spring Showcase I Online Horse Show
BALTIMORE, Md. – First-year riders continue to highlight virtually for the Goucher College equestrian team with the ability to showcase their talents at in-person events on the horizon. Kristen Wilhelm (Columbia, Md./Liberty), Jacob Connell (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) and Kellen Sullivan (Hampton, Va./Bethel) notched three of the four first-place finishes at the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association Spring Showcase I Online Horse Show Results Celebration on Wednesday.
Wilhelm was named the high score hunter seat rider of the show and finished as the top rider in the novice flat. Connell won the limit flat and finished second in limit fences while Sullivan was the awarded the top spot for intermediate fences and placed second in the limit flat. In the fall, Wilheim and Connell helped the equestrian Blue Team win the ANRC Take It Forward Tournament Finale while Sullivan was a member of the Gold Team that finished second.
Sarah Schultheis (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) earned the Gophers fourth top finishing after winning the limit flat. Celeste Fazioli (Seabrook, Texas/Clear Falls) placed second in limit fences and third in limit flat while Lexi Mason was second in the novice flat.
Makaylin Shoop (Davidsonville, Md./South River) recorded a third in open fences and fourth in the category of intermediate flat while Kaitlin Honkofsky (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) (pre-novice flat) and Flannery Supplee (Monkton, Md./Hereford) (novice flat) both came home with third-place finishes in the virtual competition.
Similar to the ANRC Take It Forward Tournament Finale in the fall, riders submitted videos between February 15-25 and were judged virtually on their technique for the Spring Showcase I. Goucher plans to participate in the Spring Showcase 2 Online Show later this month and we will announce an in-person equestrian show when available.
