Goucher Athletics Announces All-Goucher Coach Of The Year
BALTIMORE, Md. – Goucher College Equestrian Director Jen Smith was selected as the All-Goucher Coach of the Year during its Virtual Banquet on Wednesday.
Smith, who is in her eighth year as the equestrian director at Goucher, helped the Gophers compete throughout the 2020-21 seasons thanks to a combination of virtual and in-person competitions. The Blue and Gold started the year by posting the top two teams in the ANRC Take It Forward competition that consisted of four virtual events in the fall (September Kickoff, October Turnover, November Touchdown, and Tournament Finale). The squad also won two in-person events at Virginia Tech on March 28 and April 10 and finished third at the Tournament of Champions on May 1.
Smith takes All-Goucher Coach of the Year for the fourth time in her career and the second straight season. She also won the award in back-to-back seasons in 2014 and 2015. It is the sixth time an equestrian head coach has bestowed the honor of the top coach after Patte Zumbrun earned recognition for the 2010-11 and 2012-13 seasons.
