Equestrian Hosts IHSA Zone IV Championships Saturday
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College equestrian program is set to host the 2023 Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Zone IV Championships on Saturday, April 1 at 9 am at the Goucher stables.

The top two teams from Saturday's event will advance to the IHSA National Championships, set for May 3-7 at Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. The top two individuals in each individual event will advance as well.
Goucher will have four individuals competing in five events vying for a spot at Nationals. Senior Cole Jackson (Denver, Colo./East) will compete in Open Flat and Open Fences and is also the Region I representative in the Cacchione Cup competition.
Makaylin Shoop (Davidsonville, Md./South River) will be competing in Limit Flat. She is seeking her second straight nationals berth as she qualified in Limit Fences in 2022.
Elsa Sellmeyer (Silver Spring, Md.) will also be competing in Limit Flat, while Lexi Mason (Lothian, Md./Southern) will compete in Novice Flat.
As the Zone IV, Region I champion, Goucher will have one rider competing in each class in the team competition for the Gophers to qualify for a nationals berth, which would be their first since 2017.
Jackson will compete in Team Open Flat and Team Open Fences, while Shoop will represent Goucher in Team Intermediate Fences. Kellen Sullivan (Hampton, Va./Donald Sullivan) will compete in Team Intermediate Flat.
Jacob Connell (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) will take part in two events, Team Limit Flat and Team Limit Fences. Kristen Wilhelm (Columbia, Md./Liberty) will compete in Team Novice Flat, while Morgan Kingsbury (Wentworth, N.H./Plymouth Regional) competes in Team Walk Trot.
