Equestrian Opens With Fifth-Place Showing at Preseason Classic Tournament of Champions
WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Goucher College equestrian team placed fifth in the season-opening Preseason Classic Tournament of Champions hosted by Otterbein University on Saturday.
Tournament of Champions events are comprised of the previous season's regional champions. The four schools that finished above Goucher have previously captured national championshipss.
Host Otterbein was first with 42 points, followed by SCAD (40). Mount Holyoke (39), Skidmore (37) and the Gophers (30) rounded out the top five.
Jacob Connell placed second in both open flat and intermediate fences. Newcomer Hope Verschleiser took second in open fences, with Adriana Hardin coming in second in limit flat.
Christina Mlynarski turned in a third-place finish in limit fences, while Quinn Kirkpatrick was sixth in novice flat. Lily L'Oiseau placed second in intro.
Goucher opens IHSA competition Sunday, September 29, as it hosts the first of two home shows this fall.
