Williams set a new school record in the 500 free with his time of 4:47.92 as he finished 2.2 seconds in back of Josh McCormick from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
The junior also recorded the fastest times in the history of Goucher's men's swimming program in both backstroke events during the three-day meet. Williams was followed, in order, by Shalamanov, Charlie Leonard (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) and Brendan McFadden (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley), and the foursome placed third in the event with a time of 3:34.53, which is also a new school record.
Later he lowered his time to :53.71 to place third in the championship finals of the 100 back.
