Dear Prospective Student Athlete,
The Goucher College Swim Team is affiliated with the Landmark Conference, and has affirmed a shared focus on institutional excellence that emphasizes our academic mission and a belief that athletic competition is an important component of the undergraduate experience.
The Landmark Conference
brings together eight excellent colleges and universities to
compete in athletics, but we also strive to find ways to build
relationships beyond the pool and create new opportunities for our
student-athletes in academic arenas. Both the men’s and
women’s squads are comprised of young, talented athletes who
are motivated to win conference meets and to send qualifying
individuals to the NCAA’s Swimming Championships. A summary
of the achievements and activities of the men’s and
women’s swim teams, as well as a list of top times for each
event can be found by following the swimming links on the Goucher athletics website. By establishing
yourself as a student-athlete, you have also demonstrated that you
can contribute to our team goal.
Goucher College is located in
Baltimore, Maryland, about 8 miles from downtown
Baltimore and just one hour from Washington, D.C.. Firmly committed
to excellence in liberal arts and sciences education, Goucher is a
small college of about 1,400 undergraduates and 400 students in
graduate and continuing studies programs. The students come from
over 40 states and 20 foreign countries. Class sizes are kept
small, as evidenced by a student-faculty ratio of 9 to 1. There are
a variety of majors
to choose from such as business, pre-med, communications, pre-law,
political science, and education to name a few.
The continued development and
success of the swimming program begins with student-athletes like
you. I would like to speak to you further about the swim team and
the role you would play as a member. Please take the time to fill
out your contact and background information in the swimming prospective athlete
questionnaire and submit it as soon as possible. Once
we have received this, you will receive more information from the
admissions office and further information from the swim team. To
find out more information about our merit-based scholarships,
visiting our
campus, or the application process in
general please follow the links or call 1-800-GOUCHER.
