Richter Swims Fastest 1000 Free in School History
ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. — Goucher's Morgan Richter (Cleburne, Texas/Cleburne) broke the school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle and placed first in two other individual events today, but the Gophers came up short against St. Mary's (Md.), 119-86.

Following a victory by Goucher's entry in the 200-yard medley relay to open the meet, Richter touched first in the 1000 free. He bettered the former record of 10:19.39 set during the 2011-12 season by Matthew Brower by nearly 12 seconds as he was clocked at 10:07.57.
Later in the meet Richter also took first place in the 200 butterfly (2:02.26) and the 500 free (4:59.47) against the Seahawks (2-1).
Sam Davis (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) placed first in the 50 free (:23.32) and second in the 100 free (:50.56); Colin Richter (Cleburne, Texas/Cleburne) was the first to finish in the 400 individual medley as he posted a time of 4:26.16.
Cody Nelson (Duanesburg, N.Y./Schalmont) was the runner-up in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.96).
Colin Richter, Grant Gerber (Portland, Maine/Casco Bay), Ben Shriner (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) and Davis were the four swimmers for Goucher that combined for a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:44.78).
