Men's Swimming Falls at Marywood in First Meet of New Year

SCRANTON, Pa. - The Goucher College men's swimming team fell to Marywood University Saturday afternoon, 134-91.
How It Happened:
- The first-year duo of Troy Thompson (Nashville, Tenn.) and Andrew Ackerman (North Brunswick, N.J.) finished second and third, respectively, in the 100- Breaststroke with times of 1:08.82 and 1:13.56.
- Sophomore Hugh MacConvery (Lilburn, Ga.) and senior Jerel McCord (Ft. Wayne, Ind.) took first and second place, respectively, in the 200-Butterfly at 2:10.09 and 2:12.60.
- Senior Ian Furst (North Reading, Mass.) finished in first place in the 500-Freestyle at 5:29.30.
- McCord also took the top spot in the 100-Butterfly with a time of 56.11.
- A squad consisting of McCord, Ackerman, Thompson, and junior Eli Gang (Highland Park, N.J.) took first place in the 200-Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:40.48.
The Gophers hop back in the water next weekend when the swim off against Landmark opponent Susquehanna at home. The Senior Day meet begins at 1 p.m.
