Men's Swimming Places Seventh at 2018 Landmark Conference Championships
GERMANTOWN, Md. - The Goucher College men's swimming team completed their 2017-18 season on Sunday night at the 2018 Landmark Conference Championships at the Germantown Swim Center, as the Gophers placed eighth as a team in the competition.
GERMANTOWN, Md. - The Goucher College men's swimming team completed their 2017-18 season on Sunday night at the 2018 Landmark Conference Championships at the Germantown Swim Center, as the Gophers placed seventh as a team in the competition.
Overall, Catholic was the Landmark Conference champion in the meet, finishing with 926.5 total points.
On the weekend, Goucher had several swimmers qualify for finals competition in various events.
In the 400-IM, sophomore Hugh MacConvery (Lilburn, Ga.) qualified for the "B" final and finished 14th with a time of 4:41.89. Meanwhile, in the 100-fly, senior Jerel McCord (Ft. Wayne, Ind.) was ninth (first in the "B" finals) with a time of 52.04.
Goucher had two swimmers qualify for the "B" finals in the 200-freestyle, as senior Andrew Rowland (Wilton, Conn.) (1:56.86) and first-year Andrew Ackerman (North Brunswick, N.J.) (1:58.28) finished 15th and 16th, respectively. First-year Troy Thompson (Nashville, Tenn.) was 16th in the 100-breaststroke (1:06.77), while senior Ian Furst (North Reading, Mass.) placed ninth in the 1650-freestyle (17:11.85).
Rowland was 16th in the 200-backstroke with a time of 2:20.33, while MacConvery qualified for the "B" finals in the 200-butterfly, placing 15th in 2:07.87.
