Men's, Women's Swimming Open 2018-19 Campaigns with Dual Meet at Frostburg St.
FROSTBURG, Md. - The Goucher College men's and women's swimming teams opened their 2018-19 seasons on Saturday, taking on Frostburg State in a pair of dual meets.

On the day, Frosburg was able to take both meets over the Gophers, taking a 165-81 decision over the men's team, and a 173-86 win over the women's squad.
For the men's team, first-year Marcus Montisano (Harrisburg, Pa.) was a winner in the 50-breaststroke, hitting the wall in 35.28 to take the event. In the 200-IM, first-year Jackson Penner (Newville, Pa.) was a winner with a time of 2:31.91, while junior Hugh MacConvery (Lilburn, Ga.) had second place finishes in both the 100-fly (1:05.09) and 100-breaststroke (1:19.64) to round out the top finishers on the day for the men's squad.
On the women's side, sophomore Kathryn Shannon (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) was a two-time winner on the day, taking the 200-free with a time of 2:27.89, and the 400-free in 5:10.44. Meanwhile, senior Ila Jackson (Columbia, Md.) was a winner in the 50-fly in 31.88, rounding out the top performances on the day for the Gophers.
The Goucher College men's and women's swimming teams will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 27, hosting Elizabethtown in the Eline von Borries Aquatic Center in the team's 2018-19 home opener. Action gets underway at 1 p.m.
