Jackson and MacConvery Pace Goucher Swimming In Final Meet Before Landmark Championships
BALTIMORE, Md. – Ila Jackson (Columbia, Md./Homeschooled) and Hugh MacConvery (Lilburn, Ga./Parkview) wrapped up the regular season with first- and second-place finishes to lead Goucher College in a Landmark Conference dual swimming meet against Drew University on Saturday.
Jackson, who was swimming in her final home meet, won the 100 free with a time of 58.38 and placed second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:44.03. MacConvery won the 400 IM with a time of 4:41.98 and finished second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:34.99.
Jackson and men's swimming captain Eli Gang (Highland Park, N.J./Goulda Och Academy) were two of six seniors honored on the afternoon for their dedication to the swimming program. Gang made the most of his last home meet with a second-place standing in the 500 free (5:39.91) and a third-place finish in the 50 free (24.77). The senior also swam second leg of the second place 400-free relay (3:44.09) while Ryan Freeburg (Middletown, Del./Middletown) opened the race and Connor Lawrence (North Potomac, Md./Wootton) and Jackson Penner (Newille, Pa./Big Spring) anchored the race.
Penner also finished second in the 100 free (52.03) while Freeburg was third in both the 200 free (2:04.83) and the 500 free (5:56.53).
Andew Ackerman (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick Township) finished second in the 1000 free (12:35.18) and Marcus Montisano (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) was third in the 200 fly (2:38.28).
Hallie Stewart (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River) placed second in the 200 fly (2:38.45) and third in the 1000 free (12:14.21) individually and swam the third leg of the second place 400-free relay (4:05.06). Camilla Civiello (North Yarmouth, Maine/Greely) opened the relay and was followed by Kathryn Shannon (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Louisville), Stewart and Jamie Damm (Middletown, Del./Middletown).
Damm posted third-place standings in the 50 free (27.94) and the 200 back (2:35.90) while Civiello was third in the 200 free (2:12.06) and Shannon placed third in the 200 fly (2:40.89). Caitlin Cunningham (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) finished third in the 500 free (6:04.95).
Along with Gang and Jackson, Goucher also honored seniors Zoe Brown (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community Schoo), Samantha Epworth (Sacramento, Calif./Bella Vista), Kristin Sullivan (Topsham, Maine/Mount Ararat) and Kira Weilerstein.
The Rangers won the women's meet by a score of 141-58 and the men's by a score of 125-59.
Goucher returns to action at the Landmark Conference Championships on February 15.
