Gophers Fend Off Royals to Stay Undefeated in Conference Play

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College Gophers (12-5 Overall; 7-0 Conference) faced the University of Scranton Royals (3-9 Overall; 1-3 Conference) in the first game of a home doubleheader. The Gophers swept the Royals 7-0 in a Landmark Conference matchup.

Gabe Naftoly and Benedikt Rummel won the No. 1 doubles 6-4.
in the No. 2 doubles, Tadeo Asprella and George King held their opponents without a win (6-0).
The Gophers swept doubles, winning the No. 3 match by forfeit.

Naftoly won in straight sets in the No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-2).
In the No. 2 match, Asprella won the point after going straight sets (6-2, 6-2).
Rummel fought through a third set after dropping the first to secure the point in the No. 3 set (3-6, 6-0, 10-4).
Calis Nguyen swept his opponent in the No. 4 match; 6-0, 6-0.
In the No. 5 singles, Manny Vidal won after allowing just won game to his opponent (6-1, 6-0).
The Gophers earned the final point after a forfeit by Scranton.

The Gophers take on Johns Hopkins in the second match of the day.
They are set to host Susquehanna on Wednesday, April 16th at 4pm to celebrate their seniors.
