Freeburg And Stewart Lead Goucher Swimming At Tri-Meet With Scranton And Juniata
SCRANTON, Pa. – Ryan Freeburg (Middletown, Del./Middletown) recorded three third-place finishes and Hallie Stewart (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River) also had a third-place finish to pace Goucher College in a Landmark Conference swimming tri-meet with the University of Scranton and Juniata College on Saturday.
Freeburg finished third in both the 50 breast with a time of 29.48 and 100 breast with a time of 1:03.97 while he swam the opening leg of the third-place 400-medley relay and was followed by Marcus Montisano (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt), Jacy MacConvery (Liburn, Ga./Parkview) and Jackson Penner (Newille, Pa./Big Spring) to post a time of 4:04.45.
Stewart finished third in the 200 free with a time of 2:15.74 and swam the opening leg of the fourth place 200-free relay and was followed by Camilla Civiello (North Yarmouth, Maine/Greely), Samantha Kaminisky (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain) and Kelci Wood (Spencer, Ind./Owen Valley) with a time of 1:51.02.
Also on the men's side, Victor Garcia-Lara (Millersville, Md.) posted the best finish of the afternoon with a second-place standing in the 500 free (6:14.15) while MacConvery placed third in the 400 IM (4:48.55) and Penner was third in the 50 free (23.40) and fourth in the 100 free (53.05).
Montisano finished fourth in both the 50 breast (31.40) and the 100 breast (1:11.07) while Connor Lawrence (North Potomac, Md./Wootton) (1000 free, 12:43.86), Richard Bialik (New York, N.Y./Clarkstown) (200 free, 2:04.56) and Sean Swanson (Los Angeles, Calif./New Roads) (50 back, 40.10) also registered fourth-place standings on the afternoon. Lawrence, Bialik, Garcia-Lara and Montisano also teamed up to finish fourth in the 200-free relay (1:46.01).
Along with Stewart for the women, Civiello was fourth in the 500 free (6:03.05) and Wood was fourth in the 100 free (1:00.10). Jamie Damm (Middletown, Md./Middletown) placed fourth in both the 1000 free (13:28.06) and 50 free (28.10) while Alejandra Berry-Ruiz (New Haven, Conn./Amity) was fourth in the 100 fly (1:06.17) and fourth in the 400 IM (5:40.11).
The Goucher men went 1-1 at the meet for the third-straight week. The Gophers defeated Juniata 139-49 and lost to Scranton 200-48. The women lost to Juniata 134-117 and to Scranton 214-44.
Goucher returns to action when it makes it 2019-20 von Borries Aquatics Center debut against Catholic University of America on November 16. Match time is 1 p.m.
