Goucher Swim Wraps Up 2019-20 Season at Day 3 of Landmark Championships
It is sad that the Goucher swim season is over for this school year, but happy that the Gophers did well in their final day at the Landmark Conference Championships! The team had seven different swimmers place in their respective races.
Kathryn Shannon (Thousand Oaks, Calif. / Louisville) made the top of the list as she placed in two events. Shannon was 16th in the 200 Back, swimming in 2:23.79 in the B Final. She also swam the 1650 Free in 19:20.49, reaching 13th. Other Gophers joined Shannon in the race. Hallie Stewart (Chesapeake, Va. / Indian River) was 14th and swam in 19:20.95. Coming in at 18th was Caitlin Cunningham (Schwenksville, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley) with a time of 20:37.28.
The 200 Breast race also had a couple of Goucher swimmers in the top. In the B Final, Ryan Freeburg (Middletown, Del. / Middletown) finished 11th in 2:15.89. Not far behind Freeburg was Marcus Montisano (Harrisburg, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt). Montisano swam in 2:27.01, dropping 1.09 seconds to finish in 13th.
Jackson Penner (Newille, Pa. / Big Spring) placed 14th in the 100 Free. His time was 48.94 and 0.26 seconds better than his prelim time.
The best finish of the day came from senior Jacy MacConvery (Lilburn, Ga. / Parkview). MacConvery finished 8th in the A Final of the 200 Fly. His time was 2:05.56.
All the Goucher swimmers put in hard work at the Landmark Conference Championships. In the end, the men finished in 6th place with 177 points. The women had 89 points and finished in 7th place.
