Gopher Women Defeat Wilkes, Men Fall to Colonels
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's swimming team posted a 109-46 win over Wilkes University Saturday afternoon in a dual meet at the von Borries Aquatic Center. The Gopher men fell to the Colonels 98-43.
The women picked up six individual event wins as well as a pair of relay victories, with Olivia Reichardt, Ella Robinson and Darcy McFarland each winning a pair of events.
Reichardt was victorious in the 200 freestyle (2:17.90) as well as the 100 free (1:01.00). Robinson took first place in the 200 IM (2:27.94) and in the 200 breaststroke (2:44.69). Her 200 IM time was a 2.66-second improvement from last week.
McFarland took first place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:48.77, while she posted a winning time of 2:35.21 in the 200 backstroke.
The women's 200 medley relay of McFarland, Robinson, Reichardt and Avery McEachern placed first with a time of 2:06.40. The 400 freestyle relay of Alana Moore, Madison Veld, Emily Strickland and Kan Jarvis was first with a time of 4:47.29.
McEachern finished 1.68 seconds behind Reichardt in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:02.68. McEachern also took second in the 500 freestyle with a swim of 6:28.30.
Ben Graff took first place in a pair of events for Goucher's men, posting a time of 2:19.58 in the 200 fly and 2:11.36 in the 200 backstroke. James Piland (25:41) and Christian Houck (27.18) took fourth and fifth in the 50 freestyle. Houck also placed fourth in the 100 free with a mark of 1:04.61.
Goucher competes in its final meet of the fall semester on Saturday, November 18, traveling to Marymouht (Va.) for a 1 pm dual meet with the Saints.
