Goucher Sweeps Gallaudet, but Fall to McDaniel
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Goucher College traveled to participate in a tri-meet against Gallaudet University and McDaniel College Saturday afternoon at the Gallaudet Field House.
Both the men's and women's teams split the meet. The women defeated the Bison 116-60, falling to the Green Terror by just six points, 95-89. While Goucher's men came out victorious against Gallaudet 82-44 but lost to McDaniel College 129-45.
The women 200 yard medley relay team, consisting of Darcy McFarland, Ella Robinson, Kan Jarvis, and Alana Moore placed first (2:10.24). McFarland added a first-place finish for Goucher in the 100 yard backstroke (57.00). Robinson earned first for the Gophers as well, finishing the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.81, with Moore following in second (1:22.08). The Gophers had two swimmers on the podium for the 200 yard freestyle, with Emily Strickland placing second (2:38.32) and Emily Roat placing third (2:45.41).
The women swept the 100 yard IM, with Robinson placing first (1:06.85), Jarvis followed second with a time of 1:13.09, and McFarland rounded out third just 0.21 seconds behind her teammate. Emma Krister earned second for Goucher in the 100 yard freestyle (1:01.47), with Moore following in third (1:08.00). Jarvis also earned third in the 100 yard butterfly (1:11.10).
The men placed second in the 200 yard medley relay team, consisting of Ben Graff, Noah Moudarres, James Piland, and Jack Buckley (2:14.37). Quincy Barnes earned three third-place finishes for Goucher. Finishing the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:23.62, earning a time of 1:06.42 in the 100 yard freestyle, and coming in at 7:02.96 in the 500 yard freestyle.
Graff earned a first-place finish for Goucher in the 100 yard backstroke (59.71). Piland earned first place in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.87, and second in the 100 yard IM (1:17.12), falling just over two seconds behind the pace for first place.
Goucher will travel to Loyola Maryland's Mangione Pool to participate in the Landmark Conference Championship starting on Thursday, February 15.
