Gophers Conquer Another Foe by More Than 50 Points
BALTIMORE, Md. — Just five days after opening its 2014-15 season with a 72-point victory, Goucher notched its second win of the season in nearly as convincing fashion this evening. With freshman guard Briana Bull (Baltimore, Md./Owings Mills) contributing 21 points and junior forward Olivia Nono (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) pulling off a double-double of 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, the Gophers pinned an 87-36 setback on Notre Dame (Md.).

BALTIMORE, Md. — Just five days after opening its 2014-15 season with a 72-point victory, Goucher notched its second win of the season in nearly as convincing fashion this evening. With freshman guard Briana Bull (Baltimore, Md./Owings Mills) contributing 21 points and junior forward Olivia Nono (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) pulling off a double-double of 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, the Gophers pinned an 87-36 setback on Notre Dame (Md.).
While it wasn't nearly as lethal as the 32-0 run with which they began Saturday's 97-25 triumph over Valley Forge, the Gophers were able to jump out to a 10-0 advantage before Ashley Guy produced the first points for the Gators (2-1) by knocking down a jumper 5:21 into the contest.
Bull's layup midway through the first half provided Goucher with a 26-6 lead, which grew to 42-16 by the end of the period. In addition to her 21 points, she finished with eight rebounds, three assists and seven steals.
Jaida Scarborough (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor) also turned in an impressive all-around performance for head coach Didi Cotton's victorious Gophers as she tallied 13 points, grabbed four rebounds, handed out five assists and made four steals.
Goucher was 33-for-70 from the field in the win, a .471 shooting percentage. Notre Dame, on the other hand, made only 13 of the 48 shots its attempted (.271).
The Gophers (2-0) out-rebounded the Gators, 50-33.
The leading scorer for Notre Dame was Kaitlyn Walter, who came off the bench to supply the Gators with 12 points.
Goucher will go after win No. 3 when it hosts Penn State-Berks on Saturday, with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
