Goucher Women's Basketball Encourages Supporting Red Devils In Honor Of Breast Cancer Awareness
BALTIMORE, Md. – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but every February women's basketball teams around the country unite to raise awareness for breast cancer. Goucher College traditionally joins in this fight to raise money and awareness for this great cause, but as with other events this year, we are unable to physically participate in this year.
For the previous two seasons, the Gophers have joined forces with The Red Devils to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. In those two years, Goucher has donated over $1,000 to the organization. Despite being unable to hold the annual event in 2020-21, Goucher women's basketball head coach Andrea Preston would like the Gophers community to think about making a donation to The Red Devils this year. "While we are unable to host our annual Breast Cancer Awareness game during these challenging times, we must continue our efforts in the fight against cancer," said Preston. "We are fortunate to have an amazing organization right here in Towson that works to provide services that improve the quality of life for breast cancer patients and their families in The Red Devils. Our annual game gives us the opportunity to help raise funds to help patients and families in need; we hope that you will consider making a donation directly to The Red Devils this year so they can continue to serve our Towson community."
The Red Devils, founded in 2002, is a breast cancer organization located in Towson Maryland. They have a partnership with over 30 hospitals throughout the Baltimore and Washington D.C area all sharing the same mission to fund services that improve the quality of life for breast cancer patients and their families. These services include a variety of treatment support services at no charge to the patients living or being treated in Maryland. The Red Devils funds focus on helping families in three program areas which tend to be the most common barriers patients face. They help assist with treatment transportation, family support, and medical services, and treatment-related therapies.
