NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Sixth-ranked Christopher Newport University scored the game's first 21 points as it posted a 120-23 victory over Goucher College in non-conference women's basketball Saturday evening at the Freeman Center.
The Captains (5-0) shot 55.7% for the contest and outrebounded Goucher (1-4) 54-20. CNU place six players in double figures and all 14 players who saw the floor scored.
Kyla Smith (Easton, Pa./Easton) led the Gophers with 14 points and also grabbed four rebounds. Kya Taylor (Dinwiddie, Va./Dinwiddie County) was 3-3 from the floor and added six points.
Goucher is idle until Wednesday, November 30 when it hosts Gallaudet University in a 6 pm contest at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
