SALISBURY, Md. - The host Salisbury University women's basketball team never trailed as it cruised to a 98-45 non-conference victory over Goucher College Wednesday evening at the Maggs Physical Education Center.
The Sea Gulls (2-2) scored the game's first basket 57 seconds in and led 26-14 at halftime and 52-19 at halftime.
Junior Merci Turner reached double figures in scoring for the second time this season to lead the Gophers (0-3) with 11 points. Turner registered a double-double as she grabbed 11 rebounds, five of those coming on the offensive end.
Senior Julia Cavoli and junior Maiya Villanueva each finished with nine points, with each knocking down three three-pointers. Brianna Johnson and Savannah Holmes chipped in with seven and six points, respectively.
Goucher, which was outrebounded 60-39, shot 24.7% from the floor and 8-31 from three. Salisbury shot 49.4% overall and knocked down 10 of its 20 three-point attempts.
The Gophers return home on Saturday, hosting McDaniel in a 2 pm game at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
