Meona Boykin Earns Landmark Women's Basketball Weekly Honors
TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College women's basketball first year Meona Boykin was named the Landmark Conference women's basketball Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Boykin is the first Gopher women's basketball player to earn the honor since Kyla Smith in 2022-23.
Boykin, a graduate of Loch Raven High School, averaged 17.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 6.3 steals per game in a 3-0 week for the Gophers as they improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2015-16. Boykin nearly registered a triple-double in a win over Trinity Washington University, totaling 30 points, 12 rebounds and nine steals while going 14-24 from the floor. She shot 24-42 (.571) from the floor for the week, including 22-32 (.688) on two-point field goal attempts.
For the season, Boykin ranks sixth in the Landmark Conference in scoring (16.5 ppg), first in steals (6.0 spg), and seventh in rebounding (8.0 rpg). She also ranks fourth nationally in steals per game.
Goucher opens Landmark Conference play Wednesday evening when it hosts Susquehanna in a 7 pm contest at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
