Royals Take Down Gophers to Remain Undefeated

SCRANTON, Pa. - The University of Scranton Royals (19-0 Overall; 12-0 Conference) pushed past the Goucher College Gophers (12-7 Overall; 5-7 Conference) in a 106-53 Landmark Confrerence win to remain undefeated on the season.
- Scranton took an early 7-0 lead after winning the jump ball, which was capped by a pair of free throws by Amira Whitaker (8:03).
- Lauryn Towns added points a minute later to bring the Gophers within three.
- Scranton went on a 10 point run, which was ended after Meona Boykin scored off a jump shot and a layup following herw own steal (4:30).
- Briyah Haggins added points to the board for the Gophers, to battle back.
- The Royals ended the quarter ahead 35-14.
- The Royals extended their lead scoring four points to begin the quarter, Sanai Knox answered with a made layup (9:03).
- Lelia Townsend added five points for the Gophers within ten seconds to cut back the lead.
- A pair of three-pointers by Key Vaselaros added to the total for the Gophers.
- Scranton ended the half up 59-34.
- Haggins responded to the early basket from Scranton off a fast break.
- Scranton added six points to their total, before a pair of free throws from Knox ended the run.
- Boykin and Whitaker added points for a run from the Gophers (4:54).
- The Royals added nine points to their total, which Haggins capped with a made shot.
- The score was 80-44 going into the final quarter.
- Scranton added the first 10 points of the half.
- Haggins added to the Gophers score with a made three (5:57).

- The Royals added eight points before Boykin scored off a steal with 1:39 left in the game.
- Boykin led the Gophers with 16 points on the night, adding two seals and five rebounds as well.
- The Royals outrebounded the Gophers 67-34. They also scored 23 points off the 16 turnovers they forced.
- The Gophers scored 10 points off the 12 turnovers.
- Scranton shot 47.4% in the game, going 6-20 from the three point arc, and scoring 72.2% on the free throw line.
- Goucher shor 28.2% on the night, and went 5-24 beyond the arc, and went 8-14 from the charity stripe.
- The women travel to face Susquehanna on Wednesday, February 5th set to tip off at 7pm.
- They return home Saturday, February 8th to face Lycoming College in the first game of the double header set to begin at 2pm.
