Goucher College To Host Landmark Conference Outdoor Track And Field Championships This Weekend
BALTIMORE, Md. – Goucher College will host the 2019 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track And Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday.
Admission to Gopher Stadium is $7 for single-day admission and $12 for a two-day pass for adults. Landmark Conference students with an ID and children under 10 years old will be admitted for free while non-Landmark Conference students over 10 and 65 years or older can purchase a single-day pass for $4 and a two-day pass for $7.
Fans unable to attend the championships can watchlive stats for both days while Goucher College (weather permitting) will be live streaming the second day of the championships on the Goucher Sports Network.
The Gophers have several athletes that have a chance to earn a medal or being recognized on the medal stand.
Taylor Gunter (Laurel, Md./Sandy Spring Friends School) goes into the championships with the top throws in the shot put (11.49m) and the discus (37.66m) while ranking second in the hammer (40.37m). The junior was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week twice in the outdoor season and is coming off an indoor season where she won the shot put and finished second in the weight throw. Gunter placed third in the shot put at the 2018 Landmark outdoor meet.
Devon Esslinger (Las Cruces, N.M./Las Cruces) also comes in with a pair of Top-3 marks, ranking second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.96) and third in the triple jump (12.61m).
Mikayla Hinnant (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) has finished the outdoor season strong and sits third in the discus (33.45m) and seventh in the shot put (10.21m) in the pre-championship rankings.
Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall), who finished second in the 100m and fourth in the 200m at last year's conference outdoor meet, ranks fourth in the 100m (12.94) and 11th in the 200m (27.65). She finished second in the 60m at the indoor conference championships.
Sydney Smith (Falls Church, Va./George Mason HS) sits fifth in the long jump (4.92m), an event she just picked up in the spring and 14th in the 200m (28.19).
Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown Area) sits sixth with his school-record throw in the hammer (42.36m), ninth in the discus (35.83m) and ninth in the javelin (36.76m). The junior was the Landmark Conference Player of the Week after setting a new standard in hammer at the Battlefield Relays.
Miles (Mia) Taylor (Bowie, Md./Wakefield) also has a Top-10 mark going into the championships in the 110m hurdles (18.83) while also ranking 24th in the 100m (12.49) and is schedule to attempt the high jump for the first time.
Jennifer Alves (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) (400m, 14th, 1:09:01), Victoria Wheeler (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) (400m hurdles, 14th, 1:22.63), Hannah Brogan (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) (3000m steeplechase, 14th, 13:42.19) and Charlotte Birnbaum (Princeton, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) (long jump, 20th, 3.79m; 100m, 22nd, 15:87) are also scheduled to compete for Goucher on the women's side.
Joel Gladney (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) (discus, 11th, 34.14m), Brandon Julot (Baltimore, Md./The SEED School of Maryland (shot put, 12th, 11.93m; discus, 15th, 33.27m; hammer 20th, 29.76m), Langston Henry (New York, N.Y./Grace Church School) (400m hurdles, 16th, 1:09.77) and Matthew Knudson (Washington, D.C./E.L. Haynes) (1500m, 24th, 5:23.30) are also scheduled to compete for Goucher on the men's side.
Both the men's and women's teams are also going to compete in the 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay.
