TOWSON, Md. — There was a time as a young boy that Joey Fink (Baltimore, Md./The Park School) did not enjoy riding horses even though both of his older sisters were on the equestrian team at Garrison Forest School in Owings Mills, Md., and his mother also had a background in the sport.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — When Anna Carmichael (Colorado Springs, Colo./William J. TOWSON, Md. — If the riders in Goucher College's equestrian program were stunned or disillusioned in any way when they heard the news that Patte Zumbrun was retiring as director and head coach at the end of the 2012-13 season, they were immediately comforted by and delighted with the news that Jen Bunty would succeed her.

TOWSON, Md. -- One of the most successful coaches in the history of Goucher's intercollegiate athletics program is stepping down at the conclusion of her team's 2012-13 season. That, however, won't happen until after Patte Zumbrun's riders compete at the ANRC Equitation Championships later this month and make an appearance in May at the IHSA National Horse Show in Harrisburg, Pa.

LAURINBURG, N.C. -- The IHSA Zone IV Championships conducted today offered the high point colleges in each of the zone's four regions the opportunity to grab one of the two available bids to 2013 National Horse Show next month in Harrisburg, Pa. Goucher, which last weekend nailed down the Region I title, needed to achieve a higher score than two of the other three teams it was competing against.

TOWSON, Md. — As host of today's IHSA Zone IV Region I Championships, Goucher wanted to pull off as near-perfect an event as possible. Of course, another goal was to advance most if not all of its competing riders to zones.
TOWSON, Md. — This weekend, Goucher hosts Regions as individuals will continue to try to earn individual trips to Nationals. The program will continue to compete as a team seeking a second straight Zone IV title and spot at Nationals starting next week.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Unlike last season when Goucher went into the final riding show of the regular season with a nearly insurmountable lead in the Zone IV Region I standings, director Patte Zumbrun and her riders were still fighting off Mary Washington and Christopher Newport for the 2012-13 regional title heading into today's show at Hazelwild Farm.

OATLAND, Md. — Goucher's haul of 32 points at today's riding show conducted at Oatland Stables landed the Gophers in third place, but it was sufficient enough to keep them atop the 2012-13 IHSA Zone IV Region I standings.

SPARKS, Md. — Goucher's Karli Postel (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Oaks Christian School) took over first place in the 2012-13 high point rider standings for Zone IV Region I with her performance at today's IHSA show conducted at Featherdown Farm.

CARROLLTON, Va. — Despite scoring only 32 points and finishing in third place at today's riding show at Amazing Grace Stable, Goucher did not surrender its lead in the 2012-13 IHSA Zone IV Region I standings.

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher's 39 points proved to be just enough to slip past Mary Washington's 38 and Christopher Newport's 37 in today's IHSA show.

TOWSON, Md. — On the way to the IHSA Zone IV Region I title in 2011-12, Goucher scored as many as 45 points in only one Zone IV-I show the entire season. In beginning pursuit of another crown today, director Patte Zumbrun's riders hit the 45-point mark right off the bat and earned the distinction of high-point team at a riding show hosted by the defending champions.

TOWSON, Md. — The 2011-12 All-Goucher Team was unveiled during a ceremony on Beldon Field this afternoon.

TOWSON, Md. — After finishing in a tie for seventh place in the hunter seat team standings at the IHSA National Horse Show in May to wrap up last season in impressive fashion, Goucher was no doubt looking for an early indication how it stacks up against some of the top intercollegiate riding programs in the nation in 2012-13.
