Landmark's Top Academic Award Goes to Hoesman

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher's Seth Hoesman (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) was recognized today as the 2016 recipient of the Landmark Conference's most exclusive academic award.

No. 5 Tartans Knock Gophers Out in Second Round

MONROEVILLE, Pa. — It took the fifth-ranked team in the nation to snap Goucher's 14-match winning streak and bring the Gophers' outstanding 2015-16 season to a conclusion today. Playing in the second round of the 2016 NCAA Division III Championships, head coach Brendan Kincaid's squad bowed to Carnegie Mellon, 5-0.

Gophers Top Maccabees, Advance to Second Round

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Goucher lost the first set in five of the six singles matches in today's opening-round match against Yeshiva in the 2016 Division III Men's Tennis Championships. That meant that, even though head coach Brendan Kincaid's squad entered the singles competition leading 3-0, it would have to rally and win at least one of those five matches in order to beat the Maccabees.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Committee has selected the 43 teams that will compete in the 2016 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championships. Goucher, which received an automatic bid to the tournament as champion of the Landmark Conference, was placed in a six-team regional in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Aside from the win, which marked eleven straight for the Gophers, head coach Brendan Kincaid and senior Seth Hoesman (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) each tied a program record.

TOWSON, Md. — Jack Hodges (London, England/Shrewsbury School) became the third member of head coach Brendan Kincaid's squad to earn Player of the Week honors in the Landmark Conference in 2015-16 when he was recognized today as the top performer for April 18-24.

Gophers Complete Unbeaten Run Through Landmark

KINGS POINT, N.Y. — Goucher completed an undefeated regular-season run through the Landmark Conference by downing the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 9-0, this afternoon and, in the process, joined the 1998-99 squad as the only two in the history of the school's men's tennis program to win 16 matches in a season.

Gophers Finally Solve Eagles, Now 6-0 in Landmark

TOWSON, Md. — When Brendan Kincaid became Goucher's head men's tennis coach, there were still five teams in the Landmark Conference the Gophers had not yet beaten since the conference was formed. In 2014-15, his third season and the Landmark's eighth, he was finally able to cross four of those teams off the list because his squad defeated Catholic, Drew, Moravian and Scranton.

BALTIMORE, Md. — Goucher will go into tomorrow's match against Juniata, the defending Landmark Conference champion, on a seven-match winning streak after turning back Scranton, 8-1, tonight.
